About AirLein Medical

AirLein Medical is Marjolein Deege’s practice for aeromedical examinations.

As a third-generation pilot, a passion for aviation was instilled in her from an early age. Being both a doctor and a pilot allows her to combine her medical expertise with her love of flying. The practice is based at Hilversum Airfield, placing her right at the heart of the aviation community. She obtained her first pilot’s license in 2004 and currently flies SEP, MLA, and TMG aircrafts. With a practice located directly at the airfield and an active role in aviation, she has a unique understanding of the issues that matter to pilots.

Marjolein studied Medicine at Utrecht University, subsequently specialized as a medical microbiologist at UMC Utrecht, and possesses extensive experience in the healthcare sector. She also spent years teaching the "Human Performance and Limitations" subject within PPL theory courses. Sharing knowledge and guiding people are therefore key elements of her professional background. The combination of her medical expertise and her passion for aviation ultimately led her to train as an Aeromedical Examiner (AME) and establish AirLein Medical.

Having completed both basic and advanced training as an Aeromedical Examiner, she is qualified to conduct Class 2 and LAPL examinations, as well as revalidations and renewals for Class 1 and 3. Her approach centers on expertise, personal attention, and practicality. Marjolein understands the challenges pilots may face, from both medical and operational perspectives. She takes the time to answer questions, provide clear explanations, and work with pilots to find solutions when medical conditions impact their flying.

In addition to her work at AirLein Medical, Marjolein is actively committed to the further development of aviation medicine in the Netherlands. She serves on the board of the Dutch Association for Aviation and Space Medicine (NVvLG), a role in which she contributes to knowledge sharing, professionalization, and quality improvement within the field.

Whether it involves an initial medical examination or a revalidation, AirLein Medical prioritizes personal attention, expert advice, and a pleasant experience. The examinations are conducted by a doctor who is familiar with aviation not only from the consulting room but also from the cockpit.

We are pleased to welcome David de Vries to our practice starting in July 2026.

David is a pulmonologist with extensive experience in the field of respiratory medicine. After completing his medical studies at the University of Groningen, he underwent his specialist training in London and Ghent. He subsequently worked in locations including Curaçao, Boxmeer, and Harderwijk, and spent the period from 2010 to 2025 at Merem Treatment Centers in Hilversum. Since 2019, he has also been working as an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME LAPL, class 1 and class 2), conducting medical assessments for pilots. He particularly values the personal interaction with pilots in this role; he enjoys providing information and advice, and considers it important to support and guide pilots through situations where the issuance of a medical certificate must be temporarily deferred.

Aviation also plays a significant role in his personal life. He obtained his RPL license in 2008 and his PPL license in 2009, and has since logged approximately 1,100 flight hours in aircraft such as the Piper PA-28 and Cessna 172. He enjoys flying with friends and passengers, as well as for the "Stichting Hoogvliegers" (High Flyers Foundation), an organization that offers children with illnesses or disabilities a unique flying experience. His favorite destinations include the Dutch and German Wadden Islands, and since 2025, he has been coordinating introductory flights for prospective members at "Vliegclub Flevo". Aviation remains a key hobby at home, too; he regularly flies virtually using aircraft from the Airbus A320 family via the international VATSIM network.

The combination of his experience as a pulmonologist, his passion for aviation, and his enthusiasm for guiding and informing people makes him a valuable addition to our team.
