Frequently asked questions
Which aviation medical examination do I need?
The examination you need depends on your licence. If your medical certificate has expired, but the expiry date was less than five years ago, a renewal examination may be possible. After five years, you will need an initial examination again. You can find more information on our page about the different medical certificate classes.
How far in advance can I schedule my aviation medical examination?
You can have your renewal examination from 45 days before the expiry date of your current medical certificate without changing its existing expiry date. Please note: your medical certificate is no longer valid on the expiry date itself.
If you have your examination earlier, your new medical certificate will be valid from the date of the examination. This may mean that it expires earlier.
We therefore recommend scheduling your renewal in good time, while keeping this 45-day period in mind.
What should I bring to my medical examination?
Make sure you bring all the required forms and documents to your appointment, completed in full. The most important information is any changes since your previous examination. If relevant information is missing, the examination cannot be completed. Unsure which documents you need? Please contact us in advance. You can find the full list on the appointments page. You will also receive this list in your appointment confirmation email.
